Guns N’ Roses “Chinese Democracy” Release
Not too long ago a few tracks from Guns N’ Roses, 14 years in-the-making album “Chinese Democracy” leaked online. This led to rumors of whether or not the album would finally come out. The “Chinese Democracy” album, up to this point, has basically become a huge joke. Now though, there are some signs that it may finally see an actual release, maybe even an exclusive one. According to Billboard.com…
“But some concrete signs are finally emerging that the album’s release could be imminent. That’s because, according to sources, negotiations are underway for “Chinese Democracy” to come out as an exclusive at one of the big boxes — either Wal-Mart or Best Buy. Negotiations are also ongoing to have conventional record company distribution, another source says.”
Kind of fitting that they’d do a Wal-Mart exclusive huh? It’s like they’re making a huge joke sundae and putting the Wal-Mart cherry on top. None of the people Billboard tried to reach for comment were available, including the band’s management company, their label Interscope, or any of their reps.
This album features drumming work from both studio great Josh Freese, (who was a part of the project for around 2 years before leaving to play with A Perfect Circle) and also Brain, both of whom are DW Drums endorsers. Hopefully at some point we can hear their work on the album, even though I can’t stand Guns N’ Roses.

Velvet Revolver Still Searching For Singer
A little while ago I posted about Velet Revolver searching for a new singer, the band was rumored to be considering that guy from Spacehog. Today it has been revealed that this is untrue and that the search is still on.
“Bassist Duff McKagan tells Billboard.com that although Velvet Revolver did play with Langdon and that “he’s f*cking awesome, at this point I’d have to say no” on him becoming the new singer.
“We just have to make sure it’s the right guy,” he says, adding that Weiland’s angry departure from the band this spring has brought him closer to group members Slash, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner. “Karmically, we deserve the right guy. It’s a tough thing, man. We make a pretty big noise.”
Personally I think the band should just give it up, but then again I’m not a fan. I think drummer Matt Sorum is good and it’d be cool to see him use his talents and awesome DW Drums with some different players, rather than to keep continuing on with the same guys from Guns N’ Roses. We’ll see what happens I guess.

Velvet Revolver’s New Singer?
*(Yes, the above photo is actually Matt Sorum in the 80’s with Guns N’ Roses…wow…).
Remember Velvet Revolver? That band that was basically Guns N’ Roses with Scott Weiland on vocals? Yea, they are still around and after he recently left the band via angry blog posts the band is now continuing on with a search for a new singer. Supposedly a lot of problems arose between Weiland and the rest of the band particularly drummer Matt Sorum.
I am kind of surprised that the search for the bands new singer isn’t a reality TV show. Anyway, rumors are flying that the guy who used to be married to Liv Tyler, and also used to sing for that band Spacehog is in the running.
According to Hollywood Insider…
“They all got along great,” says an insider. “It was really a refreshing change for the band.” Velvet Revolver’s management couldn’t confirm that an offer had been made, and would only say that they’re still auditioning prospective singers. But an RCA source says that Langdon is “definitely in the mix.”
Wow…just…wow, is all I have to say.

Guns N’ Roses - Rock Band 2
It appears that a Guns N’ Roses “Chinese Democracy” album track will be debuted on the video game Rock Band 2.
“It seems “Shackler’s Revenge”, an apparent Democracy cut that wasn’t among those that leaked a little while back, will come scrolling down the screen this in September as part of the soundtrack to the video game/productivity leech Rock Band 2.”
“According to an unconfirmed tracklist that leaked last week, Rock Band 2 might also contain songs from Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Nirvana, Modest Mouse, the Clash, the Ramones, R.E.M., Nine Inch Nails, and many more.”
Guns N’ Roses choice of debuting a song on Rock Band 2 is a little weird, but also is smart as people may not have that much interest otherwise. Another thing, I can see playing songs by some of the artists mentioned would be kind of hard on the current Rock Band “drum set”, let’s hope they change that this next time around…
